Roof moss removal
Moss holds water against the tile and keeps it there. Over enough winters, that's what breaks the surface down.
A pressure washer will take moss off a roof very quickly. It will also strip the granular surface off concrete tiles, force water up under the laps and, on an older roof, break tiles outright. We don't use one on tiles.
Moss comes off by hand, tile by tile. It's slower and it's the only method that doesn't shorten the life of the roof to make it look better this afternoon.

- Moss scraped from tiles by hand

How we do it
- 01
Check the roof first
Some roofs shouldn't be walked on. We look at the tile type and condition before agreeing to anything, and we'll tell you if scaffolding is the sensible route.
- 02
Test patch first
A small area gets scraped so you can see how your tiles look underneath before the whole roof is done. Some roofs come up better than others and this is how you find out which yours is, before committing.
- 03
Scrape it off
Worked in sections from a roof ladder, tile by tile, including the valleys where moss packs hardest and does the most harm.
- 04
Clear what comes down
Moss ends up in the gutters — all of it. We clear the runs and flow-test the downpipes afterwards, included in the price.
- 05
Report what we found
Slipped tiles, failed pointing, a cracked valley: photographed and priced separately. Nothing gets done without your say-so.

Often booked with this
Same visit, same access — so it costs a good deal less than a separate trip.
Gutter clearing
Pole-mounted vacuum worked from the ground wherever it will reach, with a camera on the head so the run is inspected before and after. Downpipes and hoppers flow-tested, debris bagged and left tidy.

Panels, frames and — the part that matters most — the box gutter where the conservatory meets the house. That joint is the single most common leak we're called to.
