Privacy notice
Short version: we use what you send us to answer your enquiry, and nothing else.
What we collect
Only what you type into the quote form — your name, phone number, email address, postcode, the details of the property and any notes you add — and any photos you choose to attach. Photos are re-saved when they arrive, which removes the hidden location data a phone puts inside them, and they are deleted together with your enquiry. Nothing is collected automatically as you browse.
What we use it for
To reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote, and arrange the work if you go ahead. If we do work for you, we also use your details to send the quote and invoice and to keep a record of the job.
Some jobs, like gutter clearing, need doing every year. If you ask us to, we will get in touch when yours is due again. We only do that if you have said yes, and if you tell us to stop — even just by replying "stop" — we stop and do not contact you about it again.
Who else sees it
Nobody. We do not sell, rent or share enquiry details with other companies, lead-generation sites or marketing firms. The form is handled entirely by this website's own server — it is not passed to a form-handling service — and a copy is kept there so we can answer you if an email goes astray.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not turn into work are deleted automatically twelve months after they arrive. The website does that on its own — it does not wait for anyone to remember. Where we have carried out work, the record of the job, the quote and the invoice are kept for six years, which is how long a company must keep its accounting records, and then deleted in the same automatic way.
We take backups so the site can be put back if something goes wrong, and a backup made before an enquiry was deleted still contains that enquiry. Backups are kept for 90 days and then deleted in turn, so a deleted enquiry can sit in a backup for up to that long afterwards. It is not looked at or used for anything once it has been deleted.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and carries no advertising or social media trackers. That is why there is no cookie banner — there is nothing to consent to. The one exception is small: when we are running an offer, your browser keeps a note that you have already seen the offer box, so it does not keep popping up as you move between pages. That note stays on your device, is never sent to us, and is gone when you close the tab. Everything the page needs, including the typefaces, is served from this website, so loading a page sends no request to any third party at all.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email apesgutters@yahoo.com and we will deal with it. If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
