FAQs
Questions we get asked
If the answer you need isn't here, ring or send a message — you'll get a straight answer rather than a brochure.
How do you price a job?
By the property, not by the hour. Storeys, the length of gutter, how much rear access there is and what state the runs are in. Send the postcode and a photo of the front and back and you'll have a fixed figure within one working day — that figure is what you pay.
Do I need to be at the property?
Usually not. If we can reach the whole perimeter without going through the house you don't need to be there. If access is via a locked side gate, leave us the code or the key arrangement on the form and we'll work around it.
How often should gutters be cleared?
Annually suits most properties, ideally once the leaves have finished falling in late autumn. Under mature trees — conifers especially — twice a year is more realistic. Commercial sites with flat roofs and box gutters usually need a scheduled arrangement.
What if you find damage rather than a blockage?
You get the photo and a separate quote for the repair. Nothing extra gets done or charged without you agreeing to it first. Small items like a single bracket or union we can often sort on the same visit if you'd like us to.
Do you work from ladders?
Sometimes. Gutter clearing is done from the ground with a pole vacuum wherever it reaches, which is most houses and up to three storeys. Where that will not do it, we work off a ladder — two storeys maximum, never higher. Roof washing is done from a mobile scaffold tower rather than ladders leant on the guttering. Repairs and roof moss work need proper access too, and we will tell you which applies to your property before we start.
What happens to the debris?
It comes down the pole into the drum rather than being flicked onto the roof or the lawn, then it is bagged and left tidy for your green waste collection. Nothing gets tipped into the borders or left in a pile by the fence.
Do you work on commercial and managed blocks?
Yes — flats, managed blocks, offices, retail and schools, up to three storeys — that is what the pole reaches from the ground and what we are set up for. Above three storeys is outside what we are set up for, and we would rather say so than turn up and find we cannot reach. For managed sites we can work to a scheduled programme and provide a photo record per visit for your files.
What areas do you cover?
We keep a deliberately tight radius so arrival times stay reliable. The areas page lists the towns and villages we work in. If you're just outside it, ask anyway — we'll give you a straight answer either way.
How do I pay?
Bank transfer, card, or an invoice. For a one-off job payment is due once the work is finished and you have seen the photographs, not before. Landlords, letting agents and managing agents can be set up on account and invoiced.
Do you guarantee the work?
If a gutter or downpipe we cleaned blocks again within three months because of debris we did not remove, we come back and put it right at no charge. It does not cover: new debris, leaves or moss that gets in after our visit; damage or faults in the guttering itself, and structural problems; or blockages in areas that were not part of the original job. It applies to the areas and services listed on your quote or invoice.
What if I need to cancel?
More than 24 hours before and there is nothing to pay — just tell us. Inside 24 hours there is a 25% charge, because by then the slot has gone and it is too late to fill it.
Do you clean windows too?
As part of a roof wash or a gutter clean, yes — the kit is already up and it makes sense to do them at the same time. We do not take on window cleaning as a job on its own, so if that is all you need you are better off with a window cleaner.
Will you show me what the roof will look like first?
Yes. Before a roof gets washed or scraped we clean a small test patch and let you look at it, so you can see how yours is likely to come up before you commit. Roofs vary — tile type, age and how long the moss has been there all matter — so treat it as a guide to your roof rather than a promise that every roof finishes the same.
Still not sure?
