Gutter clearing

Cleared with a pole-mounted vacuum from the ground wherever it will reach, so nothing leans against your render, your glass or your conservatory roof. Where a ladder is the only way, that is two storeys maximum.

Gutters fail quietly. Nothing drips into the hallway and nothing falls off the roof — the water simply stops going where it was meant to go, and starts going somewhere else. Usually down the wall.

We clear the whole run with a pole-mounted vacuum worked from the ground. A camera sits on the pole head, so we can see into the gutter before we start and show you it's empty when we finish. On most houses no ladder touches the building at all. Where a run cannot be reached that way, we use a ladder — up to two storeys, no higher.

What's included

  • Every gutter run on the property emptied, not just the front
  • Downpipes and hoppers flow-tested with water
  • Outlets and gutter corners cleared by hand where the vacuum can't reach
  • Debris collected in the vacuum drum, bagged and left tidy for your green bin
  • Before and after photographs of every run, sent to your phone
  • Anything broken photographed and reported, with a price before any repair

How we do it

  1. 01

    Look first

The pole camera goes up before anything else, so we know what's in there — leaf mulch, moss, a nest, or a split section that needs a repair rather than a clean.

  2. 02

    Clear the run

The vacuum pulls the debris straight down into a drum at ground level. Nothing gets flicked onto the roof, the lawn or the patio.

  3. 03

    Test the flow

Water down each downpipe to confirm it actually drains. A clear gutter feeding a blocked stack is still a blocked gutter.

  4. 04

    Photograph and report

Before and after shots of every run. If we found a problem, you get the photo and a separate price for putting it right.

Questions

Gutter clearing — common questions

How often should gutters be cleared?
Annually suits most properties, ideally once the leaves have finished falling in late autumn. Under mature trees — conifers especially — twice a year is more realistic. Commercial sites with flat roofs and box gutters usually need a scheduled arrangement.
Do I need to be at home?
Usually not. If we can reach the whole perimeter without coming through the house, you don't need to be there — the photos come through when we're done. If access is via a locked side gate, just tell us the arrangement.
What if the gutter is broken rather than blocked?
You get the photo and a separate price for the repair. Nothing extra happens or gets charged without you agreeing first. Small items like a single bracket or union we can often sort on the same visit.
Is it always done from the ground?
Not always, no. The pole vacuum reaches three storeys and does most houses without anything touching the building. Some runs cannot be reached that way — behind a conservatory, or an awkward corner — and those are done off a ladder. We work off a ladder up to two storeys and no higher. If your gutters need more than that, we will say so rather than take a chance.
